Wizard - hand puppet for babies by Sterntaler
Sterntaler baby hand puppet wizard, navy pointed hat with a moon embroidery, a white beard and a starry robe
Description
With a wizard in play, anything can happen: one spell, and Punch is sitting on the stage as a frog. The light blue wizard hand puppet by Sterntaler wears a pointed blue hat with a crescent moon and a robe decorated with moons and stars.
On the German Kasperle stage the witch almost always belongs to the opposing side. The wizard, by contrast, is an ambivalent figure. At times he is a wise helper who steps in at exactly the right moment; Merlin, for instance, advises the king in Arthurian legend. At other times he is an opponent who casts curses and forces transformations. That double role makes him harder to pin down in play than a straightforward hero or villain.
Did you know that the wizard has two parts on Sterntaler’s CD ‘Kasperle-Geschichten 3’? He appears in ‘Ein Zauberer, ein Teufel und ein geheimes Kraut’ (a wizard, a devil and a secret herb) and in ‘Ein Drache auf Abwegen’ (a dragon gone astray). You cast the remaining roles as you like, with any suitable hand puppet or a narrator’s voice.
