Grandma - hand puppet for babies by Sterntaler
Sterntaler baby hand puppet grandma, blonde bun, round glasses, pink cardigan and a floral dress with a mint-green skirt
When something goes missing in German Kasperle theatre, it is often Grandma who has lost it – and she is the one who calls Kasper for help. The grandma hand puppet by Sterntaler wears a pink knitted cardigan. At story time, at home or at nursery, she also makes a good storyteller to open the session.
In Kasperle theatre, the German cousin of Punch and Judy, Grandma is Kasper's confidante. Something of hers is stolen, she gets into trouble or is worried, and Kasper sets off to put things right. In this way she often provides the reason for the whole play without having to fight herself. Children know the feeling: you gladly stand up for your own grandma. On Sterntaler's CD Kasperle-Geschichten 2, Grandma appears in two of the eight stories.
Did you know that The Robber Hotzenplotz also begins with a theft from Grandma? In Otfried Preussler's children's book of 1962, the robber steals her coffee grinder, which plays a tune as it grinds. Kasperl and Seppel had given it to her for her birthday, and now they set off to get it back.
