Description

When two characters fall out on stage, someone needs to step between them – a job made for the policeman. The policeman hand puppet by Sterntaler wears a white peaked cap and a dark blue uniform jacket. Off stage, too, the figure suits role play about jobs, in which children try out different everyday roles.

A figure who keeps order has long been part of the Kasperle cast, called a constable, a gendarme or a policeman depending on the period and region. Often the policeman arrives at the end to lead away the robber Kasper has outwitted. In your own play he can step in earlier and settle a quarrel before it gets out of hand.

Did you know that the policeman appears in seven of the eight stories on Sterntaler’s CD ‘Kasperle-Geschichten 2’? Only in ‘Eine feurige Überraschung’ (a fiery surprise) does the fire brigade have the job to itself. Any suitable hand puppet can play the other roles, and a narrator’s voice fills any gaps.
