Make any house a home with this life-like golden retriever puppy puppet. Featuring soft golden plush, a workable mouth and soulful black eyes, his realism will make him a beloved family pet for years to come.
The golden retriever goes back to a single litter of 1868. At the Scottish estate of Guisachan, Lord Tweedmouth mated a yellow retriever named Nous with Belle, a Tweed water spaniel — a breed that no longer exists. The dogs were bred to retrieve wildfowl, and the work still shows: a dense water-repellent coat, a strong tail that steers in the water, and a marked drive to search and carry. Males stand 56 to 61 centimetres at the shoulder and weigh around 30 kilograms. Puppies are born at roughly 400 grams and do not open their eyes until they are almost a fortnight old.
Did you know that retrievers were bred for a soft mouth? They are meant to carry game without damaging it, a knack often illustrated with a raw egg that the dog delivers intact. The same self-control is why the breed now ranks among the most sought-after assistance and rescue dogs.
