Folkmanis Jack Russell Terrier Hand Puppet

Best in show describes this perky Jack Russell terrier puppet, a realistic smooth coat rendition of the American Kennel Club breed that just may fool the judges! Featuring a chest opening and movable mouth, this spunky little pup shivers with eagerness with just a slight motion of your arm.

The Jack Russell terrier traces back to John Russell, a country parson in Devon who began breeding fox terriers around 1820. What he wanted was a dog that could keep up with the horses across open country, yet stay narrow enough to follow a fox underground. The mainly white coat had a practical reason behind it, so that nobody in the rush of a hunt would mistake the dog for the quarry. The breed comes in smooth, rough and broken coats, always white with black or tan markings. From that working past come a huge appetite for exercise, a carrying voice and a stubborn habit of finishing what it has started.

Did you know that a Jack Russell was the first dog to stand at both poles? Bothie travelled with the British Transglobe Expedition between 1979 and 1982 and reached the South Pole and the North Pole with the team. For the ice he was fitted with custom-made boots and a coat.
