The tongue shoots out in a fraction of a second and reaches beyond the length of the body. On each foot the toes are grouped in opposing pairs, and the prehensile tail adds a further grip in the branches. Colour change serves communication and warmth rather than camouflage – a darker animal absorbs more sun. The roughly 200 species live mainly in Madagascar and Africa.
