Sheep Stanley - hand puppet for babies by Sterntaler

The plush is the first thing you notice: short, tightly curled and dense, with the feel of sheep's wool. The sheep hand puppet Stanley by Sterntaler has a cream bouclé body and a grey neckerchief scattered with white stars. Stanley is not an animal that grabs a scene, but one that listens.

The domestic sheep (Ovis gmelini aries) is the domesticated form of the mouflon and has supplied people with wool, milk and meat for thousands of years. Ewes weigh 45 to 100 kilograms depending on breed and rams 45 to 160 kilograms; a sheep lives ten to twelve years, and occasionally as long as twenty. Its pupils are horizontal slits, and its field of vision spans 270 to 320 degrees. A sheep can see almost everything around it without turning its head. Seven animals or more count as a flock.

Did you know that sheep recognise faces and remember them for a long time? In studies, individual animals remembered at least 50 other sheep for more than two years, and they also recognise familiar people by their faces. Lambs reliably identify their mother by sight and sound within twelve hours of birth.
