Grandpa - hand puppet for babies by Sterntaler
Sterntaler baby hand puppet grandpa, brown hat, round glasses, blue jacket with a yellow tie and a pocket watch
Description
Not every family has a grandfather nearby – in play, he is there, listening and telling stories. The grandpa hand puppet by Sterntaler wears a brown flat cap.
The grandfather is not part of the traditional core cast of German Kasperle theatre, where Grandmother is the established older figure. Grandpa extends that cast and works well in play as a counterweight to the loud, quarrelsome characters. He rarely steps into events himself, but his presence gives the story a fixed point where even heated scenes can calm down again.
Did you know that one of the Brothers Grimm’s most important sources was an older woman? The storyteller Dorothea Viehmann, from near Kassel, was already in her fifties when she told the brothers her tales. In play, the grandpa can take on exactly that part: he tells the story, and the other characters listen.
